BECOME A PART OF GAMMA SIGMA ALPHA!

Gamma Sigma Alpha National Academic Greek Honour society is the premier organization committed to the academic success of its members and alignment with the academic missions of its host institutions.

The Eta Lambda chapter at UBC was founded in 2005 and is Canada’s first Chapter! We are currently opening our Fall Recruitment session to 3rd, 4th, or 5th year standing Greek scholars who have achieved a cumulative GPA of over 78% in either their first and second years combined (for 3rd years) or any semester in their final two years of education (for 4th and 5th years). The submitted semesters must be full-time status, as defined by the degree faculty or Centre for Accessibility, if registered.

Applications are open on a rolling basis. The application form must be submitted along with a one-time membership fee of $100 paid by November 20th, 2021 at 11:59pm, and a screenshot of your grades to gammasigmaalphaubc@gmail.com

Our Fall initiation ceremony will be held in November 2021. The deadline for applications is October 30th, 2021.

What is Gamma Sigma Alpha

The founders of GSA established this society in 1989 to combat the negative stereotypes surrounding sorority and fraternity membership and academic performance. Today, Gamma Sigma Alpha is located on 215 university campuses across North America. The Society strives to uphold the high ideals of scholastic achievement and supports the attainment of their academic pursuits. Gamma Sigma Alpha offers members the opportunity to cultivate leadership skills outside their NPC or IFC affiliations, and network with other academically driven Greeks to promote academic excellence to the Greek community as a whole.

GSA at UBC has two involvements with charities across Metro Vancouver and has recently created a Board of Directors. We plan on expanding our philanthropic endeavors in the upcoming year.

Benefits of Joining Gamma Sigma Alpha

Greeks awarded with the Gamma Sigma Alpha badge are given the opportunity of connecting with an elite group of academics and joining the executive team of GSA that requires minimal amounts of  commitment and labour, but for great return. Future employers and university admissions teams will look at your membership into this academic honour society with positivity. Use GSA as a means to  boost your resume while learning great skills as an active member, or executive board officer, of an internationally recognized organization (and who doesn’t love the extra badge to wear with your chapter badge!).
